Integrating Ionos

Both technically and operationally, Ionos has been designed with airports in mind. So integrating it with existing technology operations is predictably straightforward.

Most large airports can integrate the Ionos website channel in four months or less, and the mobile channel in as few as six weeks. Once it’s in place, it’s easy for airports, concessionaires and other advertisers to take advantage of its features and capabilities.

Implementation

Ionos is architected to leverage the common technology infrastructure used for most airport data feeds, including emerging AIDX standards. And since Ionos can be adapted to diverse airport environments, implementing the platform can be customized based on each airport’s needs, preferences and core technology capabilities.

For example, airports are able to launch each channel—web, mobile, and digital signage—either individually or in conjunction with others. And launching the web channel is as simple replacing an airport’s website with a new one, keeping its existing URL.

For a more comprehensive approach, Ionos tightly integrates content delivery across channels, promoting operational and cost efficiencies. To do so, it uses a single Content Management System (CMS) based on SDL Tridion technology.

Airports can also choose to operate Ionos—which leverages .NET technologies coupled with a mix of proprietary and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components—as Software as a Service (SaaS) or as a local installation at a data center of their choice.

Information Sourcing

For member airports, Ionos uses authoritative, up-to-the-moment data directly from airport systems about flights, gates, baggage claim, parking, weather and traffic. This ensures that the data on Ionos-managed channels are aligned with terminal FIDS and other airport systems.

While the airports themselves are Ionos’ primary sources of information, we have also partnered with industry leader FlightStats to provide travelers with a composite of the best-available data.

Ongoing Operation

Once an airport goes live on the platform, it’ll enjoy best of class capabilities for content management, and a user experience design based on years of SapientNitro’s award-winning studio work.

Here’s how Ionos makes things simple for airports:

  • Manages all content from a single content source for fast deployment of updates across channels
  • Aligns content authoring with approval, allowing advertisers to manage their own content under airport supervision
  • Provides a Campaign Builder capabilities for advertisers to manage targeted campaigns across channels
  • Drives conversion with airport-specific micro-segmenting
